Nev has been Djing for OVER 40 yrs and has experienced quite a few genres - soul, funk, Disco boogie, Jazzfunk & house. He started djing at the age of 20yrs old. Originally from London Town, he calls Manchester home now and he is one of the old school (Granddaddy's of House) in the North West.

 

well respected and admired for his musical journey's, He was Known for playing tunes at private parties in London with one deck, obviously he has the knack at playing the right tune at the right time and keeping the dance floor moving..

 

His dj career started way back in Manchester during 1995 when he was chosen from a couple of hundred cassettes (yes cassettes) that were sent in to join the very famous Kiss 102fm Manchester. he then created "PUT YOUR HOUSE IN ORDER". His show lasted 4yrs including the year when kiss changed to Galaxy 102 fm.

 

With his experience, Nev has grown to be a well known Dj in Manchester and around The North West, the Midlands and the South. he has that special ability to read and build a crowd and keep them there, with his unique style and choice of house music - He says whatever he’s playing "it’s got to be funky!!"

After the kiss experience he was asked to host a show on Manchester Global Radio and was asked fill in on Chris frater’s Venus Manchester radio show too.

He has dj'd and Guested at many Club nights across the North West - too many to mention but heres a few: The Hacienda, Sankeys, Golden in stoke, Wigan Pier, Venus, Twisted Elegance @ Ampersand, North, Yesterday's, Millennium, the Moat House in Cheshire, Athenaeum & Holy city zoo back in the day plus lay the gauntlet down at Birmingham’s Glamourous club night - Miss Moneypennies @ Wolverhampton’s CANAL CLUB. THE CHURCH and the Famous BONDS where he played along side some big hitters like Judge Jules, Graeme park and Boy George in and around the Midlands.

In between Guesting at many a club, he has promoted house nights in Manchester and Cheshire. There was FANTASY ISLAND @ Yesterdays, TONGUE N GROOVE @ Smokies night club, DELUXE @ Holy city zoo and the last 13yrs reign with his own exciting House meets Disco Fuelled night - GLITTER BABE.

Nev has also played and hosted the after party at the MACCLESFIELD FESTIVAL in Cheshire.

Nev has often played on the white isle and still goes to IBIZA on many of occasions. his Claim to fame is playing alongside DJ Pippi aka producer of the hit “I love you baby” @ PACHA. he has also played in the AMNESIA Terrace. the old SPACE in the 90s Carl cox’s Tech Room, ES PARADIS, PLASTIK GARLANDS and PLASTIK BOAT PARTIES. Nev was also asked to play at the end of tour party for the famous "TAKE THAT" on thier very first uk tour.

 

He is now starting to produce music as one half of "Deluxe" with Dj Mark Whites. There first tune “Coming for more” (an old Sharon redd re work) reached #31 in the Traxsource Charts and thier very successful track "this is it".

 

I think we can honestly say Nev Johnson is a true professional as a dj and a promoter and he loves music.
